Welcome to adamsonmedia.com, home of sports and humor. After a 30-year newspaper career, I decided to step away from the daily grind to grind out content of my own choosing.
And be warned: this will be a fluid website, constantly evolving – what it will ultimately evolve into is anybody’s guess. It could go a lot of different directions, depending on where you steer me.
Here’s what I know, for sure:
When the mood strikes, I’ll have a humor column, “Brain Farce,” which takes a not-so-serious look at whatever is on my mind. The response from you has been positive so far, and hopefully that streak will continue.
Soccer is my primary sports passion, and I’ve loved it ever since watching the old “Soccer Made In Germany” show on PBS as a kid. I want to write about it much more frequently than I could as a sports writer in American football-crazed markets.
I can, thanks to a section known as “Sidewinder Insider.”
In it, I’ll provide news and notes from the world of soccer, both pro and college and with a special emphasis on lower division leagues. Grassroots soccer is my favorite kind of soccer.
I will also have a sports column titled “Out Of Left Field,” which will run periodically.
In “Out Of Left Field,” no sports topic is off limits, but since I’m Alabama-born, Alabama-raised and currently live in South Carolina, you can rest assured football will have a strong presence in my commentary and that commentary will be more voluminous in the fall.
Speaking of the gridiron, I’m a huge fan of the Canadian Football League and have always had an affinity for upstart leagues such as the Alliance of American Football. Since the AAF is now up and running and will be joined by a rebooted XFL in 2020, I’ve given non-NFL pro football its own landing spot called “Alternative Football.”
I hope this will be a fun and informative website, one that can appeal to sports fans and non-sports fans alike.
Anyway, thanks for stopping in and checking things out.
You’re welcome back any time.
